Aruna Sairam

Padma Shri awardee Aruna Sairam is a Carnatic vocalist, composer, collaborator, humanitarian, speaker and an icon. Steeped in Bhava, expression, and spirituality, Aruna Sairam’s music evokes Bhakti, devotion, in the listener. With her immense scholarship and rootedness in Indian culture, she has taken the classical Carnatic form and popularised it amongst the masses. Aruna has taken Carnatic music to prestigious venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall - London, Carnegie Hall - New York, Royce Hall - Los Angeles, the Festival of Sacred Music - Morocco, the Oud Festival - Jerusalem. The Indian Government nominated Aruna to represent India at the opening of the International Book Fair at Frankfurt. She was also invited to perform at the Commonwealth Games. In 2015, she was elected Vice-Chairperson, Sangeet Natak Akademi, Delhi.
